Carter To Contest Rallycross Superprix This Weekend
Local motorsport Broadcaster and Journalist, Larry Carter, is the latest addition to the Get Connected/SG Petch Rallycross Superprix to be held this weekend (Oct 31/Nov 1) at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.
Hailing from just a few miles down the road at Northallerton, Carter was originally entered in the Rally Car class, which his company Cartersport is sponsoring at the meeting, but following a successful shakedown earlier today, the MSR Motorsport-prepared Peugeot 206 Super Cup car will now be in action in the Division 1A class of the 2WD Superprix as well as in the Rally Car category.
In addition to existing sponsors, Cartersport Motorsport Media and RWS Bodyworks, the team will be displaying logos for the Croft Circuit Official Supporters Club which will be launched early next year and will give members the opportunity of a number of discounts and benefits, whilst showing their allegiance to the North's premier motorsport facility.
"We've made some big changes to the car over the summer and doing just the Rally Car class wouldn't have given us masses of track time in order to set up it up properly so whilst we are there, it seemed logical to enter the Superprix too. If I'm being honest, as an ex-racer, I really enjoy the wheel-to-wheel competition rather than just racing against the clock and this will allow me to do that once again," said Carter.
Meanwhile, another Northallerton driver, Dave Bellerby, has also put in a late entry to bolster the grid which now stands at over 120 cars.
The former British Champion will be at the wheel of the ex-Kevin Procter Ford Puma EVO 4 x 4 which he used at the recent Mallory Park meeting and after frantic work to get the car ready, the team has succeeded and he will take his place alongside 18 other Division 1 cars over the weekend.
"It was touch and go whether or not we could get the car ready so we just wanted to hang on until we were sure rather than enter and then withdraw. I'm really looking forward to it and a big thanks to Pat Doran for his help in getting the car ready, I hope we can have a good weekend to repay the team's hard work," said Bellerby.
The action starts at 9.30am on both days with Saturday incorporating the final round of the Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship as well as the first runs of the Superprix competitors and Sundays 2WD and 4WD Superprix will see the remaining heats and finals as the highlight of the weekend.
